摘要

The annual four-Day plug-and-play fiesta called the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) attracted record crowds to Las Vegas in January-and introduced a record number of finely tuned and highly tweaked TVs to a nation on the verge of high-definition madness. If 2004 isn't the breakthrough year for HDTV, it won't be for lack of trying on the part of monitor makers. From miniature liquid-crystal-display (LCD) models to the Mother-of-All-Plasma sets (Korean electronics giant LG exhibited a 76-incher that's nearly ready for prime time, and its compatriot Samsung showed off an 80-inch prototype), screens highlighting a number of different technologies dominated the booths of the major players at CES.
