Wawel plans takeover

Polish confectionery company Wawel SA has unveiled plans to acquire Dutch producer Droste BV The planned takeover of the firm, which is owned by the Swiss-based company Hosta International AG, is expected to enable Wawel to further expand into the Western European markets with its products. The cost of the planned acquisition has not been disclosed. Hosta International AG holds a stake of 52.13 per cent in Wawel, while local private pension fund MetLife OFE has 9.8 per cent of its shares. The remaining 38.07 per cent are held by private and institutional investors.
