While it may be the height of summer here in the northern hemisphere, it seems there's little sign of the industry slowing for its traditional break enjoyed by many manufacturers within Europe this time of year. From speaking to contacts across the sector, it seems that while a holiday is collectively much needed, there is a general sense that 'taking the foot off the gas' at this precise moment in time isn't the wisest policy with economic headwinds ahead. However, there are more than a few glimmers of hope within the industry, as we discover in this edition, including with our exclusive special focus interview with Rick Scobey, president of the World Cocoa Foundation. While he acknowledges that there are a number of challenges ahead within the cocoa and wider business sector, he explains there's also a good deal of resilience exhibited by many of its members around the world, which is encouraging to hear.
