摘要

Structural health monitoring of a prestressed concrete bridge has been carried out to study the long-term performance of the bridge and to estimate the long-term prestress losses. The bridge was instrumented with fiber optic and vibrating wire sensors which have in-built temperature sensors for strain and temperature measurements. The bridge was monitored for a period of about five years. The bridge was also remotely monitored using latest communication technologies and data acquisition systems. In this paper, the importance and potential of fiber optic sensors for monitoring of bridge structures have been highlighted. The details of the bridge instrumentation, data acquisition and long-term monitoring of the bridge are presented. From the analysis of the long-term monitoring data, loss of prestress in prestressing tendons is evaluated. Details of remote monitoring of the bridge with latest communication technologies and data acquisition systems are briefly explained. Prediction of prestress losses from the short-term measured data is also presented in this paper.
