Surface treatments for concrete floors

The simplest treatment for concrete floors is curing: the effective curing of a power-trowelled concrete floor of reasonable quality with no other treatment will give a dustproof, abrasion-resistant floor surface.rnSolutions of silicate or fluoro-silicate crystals were first used in the UK before 1940 to 'case harden' and make concrete floors 'dustproof to meet the standard specifications from many architects and engineers. The limitations of the treatment were that it cannot be undertakenrnbefore the floor is a fortnight old. The treatment also involved careful rinsing of the floor after application, otherwise the dustproof floor would, for a few weeks, shed dust.
