Constructed on the site of a former steelworks, Oberhausen Theatre, near Duesseldorf, is of modernist design, consisting of a rectangular reinforced concrete fly tower and service area, 40m long, 15m wide and up to 30m high. This is attached to a part-circular auditorium that is 52m across at its widest point and 35m across at its shortest side. The circular outer wall of the theatre was finished at various uniformly sloping positions, between 12m and 27m high, with a slope of 30%.
