The Environment Agency's recent policy statement regarding the dewatering of construction sites means construction companies can no longer be simply reactive about potentially polluting site water. Irrespective of whether a bespoke discharge permit is required on a site or not, firms must have plans in place to both minimise and deal with polluting waters. For the most part, that means knowing how to deal with silty water, oil and high pH concrete washwater.
