20 Years of Technical Committee Activities: Amazing Accomplishments

In response to frustration over the lack of standards and guidelines in the concrete repair industry, the International Association of Concrete Repair Specialists (IACRS) was formed in 1988. The first formal organizational meeting took place in Naperville, IL, on May 21, 1988, with 66 repair specialists from across North America attending. In 1993, the association changed its name to the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI). From that initial 1988 meeting through today, the development and dissemination of information on proper concrete repair has been the focus of ICRI. Technical committees are the engines that drive ICRI and develop the high-quality and relevant technical information that ICRI publishes. ICRI's technical committee members include contractors, engineers, manufacturers, architects, and owners who volunteer their valuable time for the betterment of concrete repair. This column briefly summarizes the evolution and accomplishments of ICRI technical committees over the first 20 years of ICRI existence.
