It was a real thrill for me as the new President of ICRI to address the Board of Directors several weeks ago at our annual meeting in Las Vegas. While the majority of us were there to participate in and/or attend World of Concrete, it impressed me that a couple of the members of the ICRI Board of Directors came to Las Vegas solely to attend the Board Meeting and, having completed their duty, subsequently left. I couldn't help but feel a certain high, a rush of success, and sense of pride in being elected ICRI's 20th President in this landmark year. A few weeks later, I was watching Super Bowl XLII and, like millions of other viewers, I was awestruck by the excitement of the last 2 minutes. Brady had the Patriots ahead and within clutching distance of the perfect season...and then Manning brought the Giants back with that incredible pass to Tyree...and the nail-biting remaining seconds of the game where the Giants' defense made Super Bowl history, thus thwarting any chance that Brady might have at making a connection to regain the predicted Patriots' victory. That kind of competition and perseverance-sometimes against all odds-is what determines a winner and ultimately changes history.
