On the occasion of centennial celebrations: Restoration of the Deutsches Museum in Munich

Work began on a sandbank some 8 ha in size in the middle of the River Isaratthe beginning of the 20th century to build what is now a major museum in the world for natural sciences and engineering. Inauguration of this museum was however only possible in 1925. With more than 50,000 m2 of exhibition floorspace, 15,000 exhibits on display and some 1.3 million visitors every year, the Deutsches Museum in Munich is the non-plus-ultra amongst Germany's museums.
