For the pipe butt joints, it can be concluded that stirrups at the upper end of the pipe butt joint do not have any effect on the potential structural capacity in the joint as indirect tensile cracking developed in all cases (Fig. 2). For the longitudinal joints in segmental lining, first results show significant structural capacity reserves which are also dependent on the amount of reinforcement. Evaluation of the experiments is still ongoing and is expected to be completed with the presentation of the final report in July 2016. Pursuant to a resolution passed by the German Federal Parliament (Deutscher Bundestag), the joint industrial research project 17932 N initiated by the German Concrete and Construction Engineering Association (Deutscher Beton- und Bautechnik-Verein E.V.) is funded, via the German Federation of Industrial Cooperative Research Associations (Arbeitsgemeinschaft industrieller Forschungsvereinigungen = AiF), by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (Bundesministerium fuer Wirtschaft und Energie) as part of the program supporting joint industrial research (Industrielle Gemeinschaftsforschung = IGF).
