After last month's massive tally of confirmed newbuilding contracts, container-ship ordering stabilised this month to a level of 40 ships offering a total TEU capacity of 166,000TEU. This raised the global order book for new containerships up to 1,138 vessels, offering a total carrying capacity of 4.35 million TEU on August 1, 2006, representing 49.3% of the existing fleet in service.
