The transloading and cross-docking of imported cargoes from marine containers to domestic trailers and/or containers are not new activities in the US, particularly in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. But this year a new growth trend has been noticed by some of the logistics providers involved in transloading and cross-docking in southern California. These include the largest players, ie AP M0ller-Maersk-owned Hudd Distribution Services, NYK Logistics (Americas) Inc, California Cartage Company and American Port Services (part of Schneider National), as well as smaller, but important, providers Weber Distribution, National Retail Systems (NRS), Transport Express, among others.
