While much debate still exists as to when Russia's railway system can expect cargo volumes to start increasing again, many believe that much potential for growth still exists in the bulk cargo market. One of these is bulk cargo specialist Yasheya. David Coplet, one of the company's owners, elaborated: 'There are many commodities that have traditionallyrnmoved by sea between China and western Europe.rn'Obviously, when bulk vessel charter rates were skyrnhigh last year, it made sense to look at overland transport instead, particularly for small parcels that only require one ship's hold.rn'Even though that situation no longer exists today, the experience taught us to look at containerisation differently. When we explored the use of the mode before, we mainly thought about door-to-door movements, which invariably turned out to be too expensive.
