Carriers get consortia warning

Shippers represented by the Global Shippers Forum (GSF) have advised Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation countries (APEC) to reject non-rate making liner shipping agreements that pose a threat to market stability.rnIn a carefully-worded press release that was timed to advise those attending APEC's next Maritime Experts Group meeting in Singapore on July 27, 2009, the GSF confirmed that it supports the need for such things as liner consortia, but only providing they do not 'significantly reduce, limit, or remove competition from any identified trade or group of tradelanes'.
