Los Angeles cuts terminal fees

The Californian port of Los Angeles (LA) is temporarily reducing its fees to terminal operators in a bid to protect market share and maintain its competitive edge.rnThe programme includes a temporary 6% rent reduction for container terminal operators as well as a discount on empty containers. Furthermore, reduced rates for containerised cargo transferred from one vessel to another within the port are being charged.rnThe port said that the fee reductions amount to a total of USD25.7 million in cost reduc-rntions, most of which will be realised between January 1 and June 30, 2010.
