There are some jobs that, on the surface, appear to be quite thankless tasks. BP's press officer during the deepwater horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, for example. Another, although perhaps not to the same extent, is the environment officer of a deepsea shipping line. After all, how do you convince the world that the companies responsible for the huge ships that arrive in ports and pump harmful emissions into the atmosphere actually care about the environment?
