EUROPEAN shipowners could move their operations to Asia to be closer to the money men as new sources of finance emerge, industry leaders are warning. Several speakers at the Emlo conference expressed concern at the prospect of a further erosion of Europe's maritime industries as traditional sources of finance are eclipsed by lenders in China and Japan in particular, private equity, and other providers of capital.
