A bridge of millennial quality

Forton Lake Opening Bridge is a landmark structure forming a key part of the Renaissance of Portsmouth Harbour Millennium Scheme. It will consist of a 171 m long viaduct with a central lifting span over the navigation channel into Forton Lake. When completed, it will be used by pedestrians and cyclists, while provision has also been made for the bridge to carry a road train and emergency vehicles.
