As Editor I always have my antennae working in an attempt to interpret signals as to what is happening at the interface between law and technology. It struck me that the new geospatial representation of our towns and cities, homes and businesses in products such as Google Earth and Windows Live Local, combined with the growing enthusiasm of governments to deploy data gathering and sharing measures for a variety of reasons, is challenging privacy law to come up with a suitably robust regulatory framework.
