Trust has become an important issue in the information society. While more and more processes - such as private and commercial transactions, business processes, media and communications or even national security - are now firmly embedded in electronic information processes, there are still many concerns whether these processes are sufficiently reliable, secure and certain. Although such concerns are generally described as being trust issues, the very concept of trust itself remains vague, abstract and ill-defined.
