Reliable methods of valuation will be critical to investment in IP and the liquidity of the IP marketplace. Whether public auctions will once again rise to prominence is unclear,as is the markets tolerance for IP securitizations. Regardless of the mechanics, the underlying causes for buying and selling IP will always exist, and these transactions will increase as the new economy continues to develop.
