Last month, we explored the technology behind digital holography (see "Digital Holograms," pg. 28). This month, we look at the artists who are venturing into the brave new world of 3D imaging and the facilities where digital holography can be studied. There are numerous places around the world where non-digital holography has been taught for many years-it was invented in 1948, and with the development of the laser, the first holograms were actually made in the early '60s. But the medium has been languishing for some time.
