Healthcare is the largest industry in the world and one of the fastest growing segments of the U.S. economy. Still, despite its size and importance the healthcare industry lags behind many other sectors in deploying industrywide IT standards. This lack of standards has been an impediment to fully realizing the benefits of IT in healthcare.
