As this study indicates, storage virtualization is a technology that can be adopted by nearly any size organization to help ease the management of and reduce costs associated with storing large volumes of data. Some organizations, however, are particularly strong candidates for this technology. These include almost any company with fast-growing storage requirements. Good candidates also include IT organizations faced with consolidating data centers, experiencing low utilization rates, or wrestling with incompatibilities among storage arrays from different vendors. Storage virtualization can yield strong returns through the ability to consolidate hardware and lower management costs.
