Almost half of adults been 'harmed' online

Almost half of adult internet users have suffered "harm" online Ofcom has said, as it called for social networks to be regulated. The watchdog has presented research showing that 45 per cent of people have been affected by negative experiences online. These include harassment and being targeted by scams. Interactions via social-media networks and email are the most likely to cause harm. About 20 per cent people said they reported offensive or harmful content when they saw it. Hate speech, illegal sexual content and harassment were most likely to be reported.
