摘要

The fundamentals of controlling structural vibration of plates treated with a new class of Passive Magnetic Composites (PMCs) are studied. The effectiveness of the PMC treatments in enhancing the damping of characteristics of plates is demonstrated theoretically and experimentally. The equations governing the magneto-elastic characteristics of plates treated with PMCs are presented. A finite element model is then developed to describe the static and the dynamic characteristics of the different configurations of the PMCs. The model is validated experimentally at various operating conditions. The obtained results suggest the potential of the new class of PMCs as an effective and simple means for controlling structural vibrations.
