London operators warned over ULEZ expansion

Firms operating in the South East are being urged to plan their vehicle provision now and avoid paying thousands of pounds in extra charges when the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) balloons in size. In October, the ULEZ will cover an area 18 times larger than it currently does, bounded by the North Circular and South Circular roads. Enterprise Flex-E-Rent predicts that its expansion, coupled with higher seasonal delivery volumes ahead of Christmas and Black Friday, could result in "unprecedented demand" for both HGVs and vans. It said an increase in online shopping and home deliveries over the past 12 months has already led to higher demand for CV rental and that businesses requiring vans should therefore confirm availability for the best rental solutions now. Danny Glynn, Enterprise MD, said: "We estimate that a lot of companies that still own older vans and trucks and operate them in and around Greater London will be caught and end up paying fines and additional charges.
