NEW REGULATIONS RELATING to undertaking international haulage are being finalised and due to come into force later this year. The new regulations relate to the requirement for trailers used in international work to be registered and display a registration plate. In July this year the Haulage Permits and Trailer Registration Act received royal assent. The purpose behind the act is to allow for measures to deal with the consequences of the UK ratifying the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic. Ratification took place as part of the UK's preparations for leaving the EU and the convention will come into force on 28 March 2019.
