German trailer manufacturer Schmitz Car-gobull has revealed new and revamped products bound for the UK market, underlining its commitment following the closure of the County Durham assembly plant factory last year. Board member Andreas Schmitz, says the closure came as the group's turnover fell more than 58% through 2009/10 to €666.3m (£572.4m). He also unveiled a revamped S.KO reefer trailer with significant changes (pictured below), including improved rear end protection, reinforced rear doors, a new dent-resistant insulation cover and improved internal partitions to separate different temperatures. Refrigerated trailers account for half of the 36,053 products built for global markets in the year to 31 March, as Schmitz rebounded with a turnover of €1.3bn and pre-tax profit of €34m.
