Operators team up to buy failed firm's site

Coleman international Transport and Serious Waste Management have acquired the land of recently liquidated CFH Tanker Services for an undisclosed value, and plan to open a CV repair workshop. The firms have teamed up to share the Shobnall Road, Burton-upon-Trent site, comprising a warehouse, a yard for truck parking and a garage. The site was previously owned by CFH Tanker Services, which entered liquidation in November 2010. David Birkett, MD of Serious Waste Management, says he has also acquired a number of CFH contracts, as well as snapping up six HG Vs from the failed operator. "CFH was a main rival of ours; we now plan on securing more of their customer base. This site gives the business more space to grow. I am not so keen on subcontracting; I now have more scope to use our own fleet and staff."
