MAN keeps it in the family by ditching ZF gearboxes in favour of Scania's

MAN is to ditch ZF gearboxes in its TGX and TGS trucks, switching instead to transmissions supplied by sister company Scania. The move is officially described as co-operation, but in essence from 2016 it will be Scania-designed and produced gearboxes, either automated or manual, in MAN TGX and TGS trucks. MAN will develop its own gearbox control software so that automated shifting strategies suit MAN powertrains. Prototype testing is already under way according to MAN, which says the companies will work together developing the next generation of Scania-made gearboxes.
