September 1970 saw the introduction of the last true Atkinsons, and the Borderer was the 4×2 tractor unit in the range. Sporting very traditional lines, a timber-framed cab and a 'dummy' exposed radiator, the Borderer was revered by conservative British hauliers for its quality engineering.
