Specialist auctioneers, Shropshire-based Malcolm Harrison, conducted the sale of 13 Volvo FH tractors and 19 Rothdean open-top steel bulk trailers. They were sold in Barnsley's Chippenham yard the day before CM visited, and we were just a little apprehensive about how we would find things. "The sale went very well, with good prices paid for all the units and trailers," says Mike Barnsley. "I put it down to two things; the fleet has always been well-maintained, and Harrison's did a very professional job for us." A mix of FH 500s and 480s, from 2005 onwards, with mainly late models, went for strong prices. Two of the early chassis had more than a million kilometres on them, but the money was still there.
