As freight rates fall and the shipping market begins to adjust to a new trading environment the risk of charterparty failures rise. So says the ICC International Maritime Bureau (IMB), which has seen several general cargo and small bulker charters fail in recent weeks and warns that it is now increasingly important that ship owners and charterers make up-to-date checks on the companies they deal with.
