Malta Forum highlights strategies available to fight international fraud and financial crime

Little may be certain in life these days, but one thing you can be sure of is that financial crime and fraud will not be reducing any time soon. Businesses and financial institutions need to identify the risks, understand them and learn how to prevent losses. When fraud is discovered there is a need to manage the problem, learn the lessons and use the most up-to-date techniques to recover losses.rnFraud awareness, prevention, investigation and recovery were the four key themes examined at last month's Malta International Financial Crime Forum. Organised by ICC Commercial Crime Services (CCS) in conjunction with the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) and Malta Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU), it drew around 70 delegates to the Hilton Hotel conference rooms over the two days. The majority of delegates represented Maltese banks and financial institutions, but there was also a good representation from elsewhere, notably Europe, the Middle East, Asia and South Africa. Speakers flew in from around the world to make a number of key presentations on the various elements of financial crime and its prevention.
