COASTAL response agencies and international navies play a key role in ensuring that regional waters remain safe and secure for ships carrying cargo and seafarers crewing vessels and it is with this in mind that the ICC International Maritime Bureau (IMB) says it is important to keep the momentum going in the Gulf of Guinea as the region continues to be the world's piracy hotspot. The area accounted for nearly half (43 percent) of al reported piracy incidents in the ifrst three months of 2021, according to the latest quarterly report issued by the IMB Piracy Reporting Centre (RPC).
