GIVEN that we are - the saying goes - what we eat, the focus of goods counterfeiters in the Europe on food stuffs is cause for concern. While the faking of branded toys – 11 percent of seized items; cigarettes – 9 percent; and clothes – 7 percent, also poses risks to consumers, the growth in the proportion of fakes comprised by food to 24 percent is worrying.
