IN its bid to find a workable solution to the crisis that has engulfed dyeing units in Tirupur, the new AIADMK-led government headed by Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has heard the representatives of both the farmers and the dyeing units. Representatives of the farmers' associations, who met the State Minister for Industries, Thiru. C. Shanmugavelu on May 30, 2011, asked for strict implementation of the High Court order to ensure zero liquid discharge from the dyeing units. The representatives also asked the government to take strict action against the units that are still functioning in violation of court orders.
