Sometimes when I'm going through a story turned in by one of the fine writers that we've all come to enjoy in the pages of Collectible Automobile®, it hits me: This is exceptionally good stuff. This ought to win an award. I'm glad to say that a couple of the pieces about which I had that inkling in 2017 have indeed met with success.Regular contributors Terry V. Boyce and Don Keefe both collected gold medals for CA stories when the inaugural Automotive Heritage Awards were announced last July 29. Don had the good fortune to bag a further "best of category" trophy for his winning work.Terry's golden moment came in the competition's personality-profile category for his two-part interview titled "William Porter: Moving the Mainstream." The conversation with the 38-year veteran of General Motors Design who played a significant role in the creation of cars like the 1968 Pontiac GTO, 1970 Pontiac Firebird, and 1995 Buick Riviera ran in the August and October 2017 issues.
