When Ford spoke in the late Sixties, it was usually about quiet. The "quieter than a Rolls-Royce" advertising campaign of 1965 was followed the next year by "Ford's Quiet Man," who was dispatched to Europe with the goal of getting well-heeled motorists all over the continent to admit—in a whisper, no doubt—that the Ford LTD rode more silently than whatever vaunted marque they happened to be patronizing. Thus, quiet was still on Ford's lips as the 1967 model year began.
