Before Ford introduced its 1958 models to the public, two prepro-duction '58 Fairlane 500 four-door sedans, along with some Ford trucks and a driving and support crew of 23 people, embarked on the mother of all test drives: a worldwide tour. When the trip was over, Ford used the escapade to promote its new models as "The Car That Went Around The World to Prove Itself to You."
