New Plant Will Help Allison Expand Its Global Reach

Allison Transmission, supplier of commercial duty, fully-automatic transmissions and hybrid propulsion systems, has broken ground in Chennai on a new India facility which it says has been designed to meet the growing global demand for its automatic transmissions. Allison products are specified by over 250 of the world's leading vehicle manufacturers and are used in many market sectors, including mining. Once construction of the new manufacturing plant is completed, which is scheduled for 2010, it will also serve as the Allison Transmission India Pvt. Ltd. regional headquarters with executive, marketing, and sales offices. In addition, the facilities are designed for warehousing and customisation.
