摘要

An understanding of decontamination is necessary to grasp the scope of a decontamination operation and its consequences as well as to visualize the Chemical Corps potential in proactive CBRN response, unit readiness, and urban operations. There should be a brief explanation of decontamination as a science early in a CBRN Soldier's career. We should be interested in the capability of conducting ad hoc decontamination with limited resources in remote locations. As a Corps, we are capable of engineering decontaminants at the nanoscale to suit our needs and beyond. While much of this is being driven by our civilian counterparts, there is more that we can do. Building scientific intrigue can pave a path for self-development and progression, which CBRN Soldiers require. CBRN Soldiers should be aware of these endeavors, and CBRN commanders should be capable of them or determined to pursue them.
