Welcome to the premier issue of our new PharmaPilot supplement series. Each issue of PharmaPilot will focus specifically on the technology, equipment, requirements, capabilities and challenges of pharmaceutical pilot manufacturing facilities. The pilot manufacturing plant is at the center of the pharmaceutical drug development process, both in terms of transitioning new drug candidates from the research laboratory to meet the production requirements of clinical trials, and, if successful, in quickly ramping up these small scale processes to full-scale commercial production. It's estimated that reducing the drug development cycle time by a single day can reap a revenue opportunity of $ 1 million.
