Semiconductor manufacturer AMD has selected plant constructor M+W Zander FE GmbH as general contractor for its Dresden site expansion. The Stuttgart-based company was awarded the order to support AMD's conversion of its Fab 30 (currently 200 mm wafer process) to Fab 38 (future 300 mm process) while continuing to carry out routine operations without interruption. The project team will disassemble and remove previous-generation machinery, install new machinery and equipment, and organize subcontractor services. M+W Zander will also be responsible for the hookup of utility systems to the machinery assets of a new bump test cleanroom building and expansion at Fab 36.
