Preventing infections through effective cleaning and hygiene

CLEANING and hygiene continue to play a central role in the fight against healthcare associated infections (HAIs). These infections, particularly those caused by multi drug-resistant organisms (MDROs), represent a significant impact on patient morbidity and mortality and increase the financial burden on healthcare systems. Contaminated environmental surfaces have been shown to bean important source for the transmission of HAIs, particularly through touch and subsequent personal contact.
