ISE INTRODUCES ITS CNG HYBRID SYSTEM FOR TRANSIT BUSES

ISE Corporation, a developer of advanced electric drivetrains based in San Diego, California, has begun accepting orders for its battery dominant, compressed natural gas (CNG) fueled hybrid electric drivetrain for use in transit buses. Production units are expected to be available in 2011.rnThe new ISE drivetrain offers unique advantages over conventional CNG systems. For example, it is expected to improve fuel efficiency by up to 40 percent, which enables the removal of a significant amount of onboard fuel storage without compromising vehicle range. By requiring fewer fuel storage tanks, the ISE CNG hybrid electric drive-train reduces vehicle weight.
