SAIC GROUP SHOWS NEW FUEL CELL CAR AT SHANGHAI INDUSTRY FAIR

The SAIC Group displayed several new electric vehicle models at the China International Industry Fair held in Shanghai in November. They included the Shenchi 4 and 11 seat fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) and the Shenchi four seat battery electric car. VIP service cars used to shuttle visitors to and from the industry fair included Shanghai Brand hybrid electric sedans.rnThe Shanghai Brand 4-seat FCV is the first fuel cell hybrid electric passenger sedan developed by SAIC with its own fuel cell. It uses plug-in technology, with a battery as the main power source. It is rechargeable with 220 Volts direct current. A small pressurized fuel cell system provides auxiliary power using hydrogen as fuel. The car uses both electricity supplies. For short distance driving, the car can run on pure electricity. For long distance driving or when the battery is depleted, the car shifts into a hybrid driving mode by adding fuel cell electricity.
