ACAL ENERGY ACHIEVES MILESTONES IN NEW FUEL CELL TECHNOLOGY

ACAL Energy, based in the United Kingdom (UK), has achieved key milestones in the development of its FlowCath platinum free liquid cathode fuel cell technology. The company has completed its first two field test units, including the newest unit at Solvay Interox's chemical plant at Warrington, Cheshire, in the UK. The Solvay unit will provide continuous electrical power to a remote environmental monitoring system within the manufacturing facility. The stack and regenerator subsystems in the demonstration unit are capable of producing over 3 kilowatts (kW) of gross electrical power, which represents a significant scale up from the 1 kW of gross power in the previous generation test unit.
